Composition
The objective of the assignment, "Composition Research Exploration" was to research, explore, practice and experience the various approaches to composition in photography. Students were told to research and choose ten composition approaches. Once they have chosen their ten, they were to shoot the approaches and choose their best image from each. Katie chose to shoot: Rule of Thirds, Frame within the Frame, Leading Lines, Patterns & Textures, Rule of Odds, Leave Negative Space, Simplicity & Minimalism, Isolate the Subject, Center Placement and Color Combos. Katie liked this assignment because there was no check points, forcing her to be organized with her shooting dates and how she used her time. Katie approached this assignment with an open mindset in order to have creative and unique photographs. She struggled with "Frame within a Frame" and "Isolate the Subject" because she does not shoot those styles typically. Her favorite is "Rule of Odds" because the worms eye view and how she divided the three buildings. Below are her pictures.
